It was a Dora the Explorer celebration around here this weekend. Daddy was out of town so Grandma came to have a slumber party. Dora was having a birthday celebration at WalMart Saturday so Mommy made the slumber party a Dora Birthday Party. We made homemade pizza and yummy cookies and cream cupcakes. Mommy rented the movie "Dora's Birthday Adventure". Five minutes into the movie Mommy realized it was modeled after "The Wizard of Oz" and it would have scared Taylor so we watched Barney instead.
Saturday morning Grandma and Taylor made homemade donuts and coffee. Mommy has included the recipe below for the yummy, easy donuts.
Homemade Donuts1 tube Pillsbury Grands biscuits
1 24oz bottle peanut oil
cinnamon and sugar
We used an electric skillet to heat the bottle of peanut oil at 350 degrees. You want enough oil to make the biscuit float so the sides are submerged or the middle won't cook. We used a small cookie cutter to make holes in the biscuits. It was flower shaped but you can't tell. When the oil is hot place biscuit in oil for about 1 1/2 minutes, using long tongs flip the biscuit and cook another 1 to 1 1/2 minutes. Place on paper towel lined cookie rack. After a minute, roll in cinnamon and sugar mixture. If you want to make frosting wait until the donuts are cooled. Frost and dip in bowl of sprinkles. YUMMY! The holes you cut out of the middle can be cooked too!
Grandma doesn't like to go into WalMart but made an exception for her granddaughter. Mommy surprised Grandma and took this picture to document her trip to WalMart. Thank you, Grandma!
